Is the electraflame™ expensive to operate?

No. The patented flame technology, when used without heat, uses under 300 watts of power. Based on average electricity rates, the unit operates at only 2 cents/ hr. *

Built-in fireplaces: When full heat is selected the operating cost is approximately 15 cents an hour.*
Fireplace inserts: When full heat is selected, the cost is approximately 7 cents/hr. *

What size room will electraflame™ fireplaces heat?

There are many variables that affect the answer. For example, is the fireplace the only source of heat or is it being used as supplemental heat in a dwelling that already has central heating, e.g. a heat pump or fan-forced central furnace.

As a rule of thumb, we suggest 10 watts per square foot where the fireplace is the primary heat source in a moderately insulated home in the continental U.S. Thus the built-in fireplace, rated at 3,000 watts is suitable for heating a room 15 ft x 20 ft. on average. When used as supplemental heat only, it may service a much larger area.

How efficient are electraflame™ fireplaces?

The electraflame™ fireplaces are 100% efficient. All of the energy supplied to the unit is effectively converted into heat that remains in the room.
